The Last Day of Mustache Growth

Twenty-four hours until the mustache challenge is complete. My donation total is still woefully low. What the heck is wrong with you people?
Do you hate children? I work with children. Many of those children are annoying. And yet, I'm not only kicking in money to help children, I'm growing a freakin' mustache for children. Seriously. You can pitch in $10. Some of you can pitch in more than $10.

Think of the children.

Also, you definitely don't get a say in the post-stache-facial-hair if you didn't donate.

Yeah.

I'll even come up with a prize for whoever kicks in the most.

M4K Update: Checkpoint 2

So, I've now been working on the glory that is my 'stache for a full two weeks.

Week 1:
M4K 2007: Checkpoint 1

Week 2:
M4K 2007: Checkpoint 2

So far only two of you slackers have made donations to the Off the Street Club so you should feel shame and self-loathing until you correct that. It's a good cause. Maybe I'll make donation a requirement for voting in the post-M4K-facial-hair decisions. That'll teach you.

M4K: Thank You and Update

I've received my first sponsorship in the Mustaches for Kids Campaign, and it was a very generous donation to the Off the Street Club. While I won't name the donor publicly without permission, I wanted to thank them for their support in a public way. I'll be adding a progress bar later today, and this donation will make a big difference. Tonight is the first checkpoint, so we'll all get to see what a week's worth of mustache looks like on me.

A few things I've learned this week...

  • Facial hair is good insulation. My face is cold!
  • Most people don't really know what other people look like. I've had at least 3 people, who* I see several times a week, not realize that I had shaved my beard off, and at least two people who "like my haircut". I haven't cut my hair at all.
  • Shaving is as big a pain in the butt as I remembered. Chins are shaped funny.
  • I need to step up my fundraising
  • I'm probably not going to reach my goal of a Jamie Hyneman-esque 'stache.

Would you donate if I set up a paypal link for it on this page?

*I know that the word "whom" is appropriate here, but I've decided that "whom" is officially archaic, as it's not used in common speech. I see no reason to continue using it in written language.

Mustaches for Kids

Next week, for the first time since my Junior year of college, I'll will be clean-shaven. Why would I do such a thing? In November? In Chicago? For a good cause of course!

That's right, I'm going to be growing a Mustache for Kids! Over the next month, I will shave, and then grow a mustache. I will take pictures of myself clean-shaven, and on the way to mustache glory. Then, in mid-December, I will display my mustachioed visage upon the intertubes. And there will be much rejoicing. Right up till TBWITWW makes me shave and start over on the beard.

How does this help kids? Well, that's where you come in. You can pledge a donation to encourage the mustache-y goodness, and I will do my best to keep you entertained with my mustachosity. All money donated will benefit the Off the Street Club, a group that provides a place for kids to go to get away from guns, drugs and violence. It's a worthy cause, and fun too!

If you'd like to pledge, send me an e-mail at This Address.
