What the hell. So today I updated my system... a quick
apt-get update
followed by
apt-get dist-upgrade
and a new kernel to boot. Fun. Lots of stuff I haven't tested with the new kernel, but we'll get to it. In the mean time, apparently the unstable version of X is hosed, so I had to try to downgrade that to testing. Then my XF86config4 didn't work. Dammit. An old version with only one monitor set up works okay, other than my USB mouse flaking out. I'll fight with it more tomorrow. Dammit.
